Impact You Can Measure, Returns You Can Count On

Impact is embedded at origination, assessed during underwriting, monitored quarterly and reported annually.

Our Impact Strategy

At wCap, we believe responsible financial solutions should generate measurable outcomes alongside financial returns. Our Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) framework integrates impact throughout the investment lifecycle, ensuring that every financing decision contributes to stronger businesses, more resilient economies and sustainable long-term growth. By combining disciplined credit underwriting with active portfolio support, we seek to create value for investors, entrepreneurs and the communities they serve.

Our approach focuses on four interconnected priorities: expanding access to finance for underserved SMEs, advancing climate resilience and resource efficiency, promoting gender equality and inclusive economic participation, and strengthening governance and responsible business practices. Through rigorous due diligence, ongoing portfolio engagement, ESG integration and impact measurement aligned with internationally recognised frameworks, we support businesses that deliver both commercial performance and measurable development outcomes across Southern Africa.

OUR IMPACT PRIORITIES

Intersection of Growth, Climate and Gender

Our investment strategy is built on the principle that sustainable growth, climate resilience and inclusive economic participation are mutually reinforcing drivers of long-term value. We believe the most resilient businesses are those that generate commercial success while delivering positive environmental and social outcomes.

CLIMATE ACTION

Financing the Climate Transition

SMEs in Southern Africa operate at the front line of the climate transition. Agribusinesses face intensifying drought cycles. Manufacturers face energy cost volatility driven by load-shedding and grid instability. Cold chain resilience is critical for food and healthcare supply chains. Yet these same enterprises are structurally excluded from financing at the 3–7 year tenors that climate-positive investment requires. wCap exists to close that gap with patient, cash-flow-based private credit.

Climate Mitigation

Climate Adaptation & Resilience

Gender and climate are not parallel lenses in our approach. The barriers excluding women-led enterprises from private credit are often the same barriers preventing those enterprises from investing in climate-positive activities. Removing them is simultaneously a climate intervention and a gender intervention.

The Founding Partners

Yvonne Mpala, Nyeji Mhango & Melissa Gray

"We built wCap on a simple conviction: that capital, structured with discipline and purpose, can build businesses that are both profitable and resilient. When enterprises across Southern Africa grow on strong foundations, they create lasting value for their investors and their communities alike. That is the future we are financing."
